DSWD steps up relief aid for flood-hit families in Ilocos Sur

SAN ILDEFONSO, Ilocos Sur — Government relief efforts have been stepped up for families affected by flooding in Ilocos Sur, with the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 1 (DSWD FO 1) distributing nearly 500 Family Food Packs (FFPs) in two municipalities.
In a report on Friday (Aug. 21), the DSWD FO 1 said it provided 192 FFPs to families in Sta. Domingo, following flooding caused by rains associated with the southwest monsoon or Habagat and recent storms.

Another 286 FFPs were distributed in Tagudin, bringing the total number of food packs delivered to the two municipalities to 478.

The assistance was intended to provide immediate food support to families whose livelihoods and daily activities were disrupted by flooding.
The DSWD FO 1 said it continously responding to communities affected by severe weather, as the agency works with local governments to identify families needing assistance and deliver aid to affected areas.
It added that it would continue to provide timely and sustained assistance to affected families and communities, in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to ensure that no one is left behind during disasters and the recovery period. Kenneth P. Tabin/Contributor /jpv
