Civil defence team helps in burial of 250kg man

A man weighing 250kg who died of an obesity-related condition has been buried with the help of the Malaysian civil defence force at the Gual Tinggi Islamic cemetery in Rantau Panjang.
Civil defence officer Fuad Ismail said the health ministry contacted the civil defence yesterday morning to assist in moving the body for the burial.
“The operation lasted nearly five hours, starting from 11am, involving several of our personnel, and a lorry to transport the body.
“The local villagers also lent a hand to facilitate the burial arrangements,” he said in a statement last night.
The man, aged 23, was from Kampung Gual Tinggi, Rantau Panjang. His body was taken from Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital in Kubang Kerian to Masjid Al-Hidayah for the funeral prayer before he was buried.
