The staff for the Pokémon Unite game announced on Tuesday that the game will end its service on March 23, 2027 for both the Nintendo Switch and mobile device versions. The game has already suspended the sales of the in-game Aeos gem currency, new UNITE Club membership purchases, and automatic membership renewals on Tuesday.

The game's staff stated that the Pokémon Unite Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo tournament will still be held as previously announced, with qualifier tournaments starting on December 5. Special event and update leading up to the game's end of service will start on November 12. The update will include a "library" feature, which will allow players to view certain records and in-game content. Players have to complete the required library data download before the game ends service to be able to use the feature.

The game launched for Nintendo Switch on July 21, 2021 and then launched on iOS and Android devices on September 22, 2021. Tencent's TiMi Studio Group produced the game in collaboration with The Pokémon Company.

The game is the franchise's first strategic team-based battle game. The game allows 10 players to participate in 5-on-5 real-time battles, and it supports cross-platform play. Each team has five goals that they use to catch Pokémon and score points. Captured Pokémon can defeat other Pokémon to level up and learn attacks. Each Pokémon has its own special Unite move that players can unlock when they reach a certain level. The team that scores the most points during the time limit wins. The free-to-start game includes in-app purchases.

The game announced in June an original live-action short project to commemorate the game's fifth anniversary this year.
