Fanaka International University College and the Ghana Investment and Securities Institute (GISI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to integrate professional capital market training into Fanaka’s Master of Science in Finance programme.

The partnership is expected to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry practice, while equipping students with the skills and professional qualifications needed to pursue careers in the securities and investment industry.

The collaboration between Fanaka International University College and the Ghana Investment and Securities Institute will strengthen professional standards and build capacity within Ghana’s capital market.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Rector of Fanaka International University College, Professor Samuel Agyei-Ampomah, said the collaboration will help enhance knowledge of students in finance and investment.

“The financial curriculum landscape is shifting rapidly, and with GISI’s leadership and continuous professional development, students and faculty will have direct access to cutting-edge insights on modern asset classes, corporate governance and digital financial frameworks”, he said.

Through the collaboration, students will benefit from practical industry exposure and professional development opportunities that could improve their readiness for employment in securities trading, investment management and other areas of the financial services industry.

Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment and Securities Institute, Alexander Williams, said the collaboration would promote curriculum benchmarking, professional development and closer engagement between academia and industry.

The agreement also reflects broader efforts to strengthen the relationship between universities and professional institutions, ensuring that graduates leave school with knowledge that responds to the needs of the job market.

For Ghana’s capital market, the collaboration is expected to contribute to the development of a pipeline of skilled professionals who can support investment activities, improve market participation and contribute to the growth of the country’s financial sector.

The partnership is expected to provide students with practical industry exposure and internationally recognised professional development opportunities, while strengthening the pipeline of skilled professionals for Ghana’s securities and investment market.
