Translate

MANILA, Philippines—A politician from Mindanao financed the chartered flight linked to the 521-kilogram shabu seizure in Laos, according to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

“We have identified the financier behind this drug operation. This politician is based in the South, in Mindanao.” said PDEA spokesperson Atty. Joseph Frederick Calulut in an interview with reporters on Thursday.

Calulut did not disclose the politician’s identity but said the individual opposes the current administration.

He also disclosed the politician’s rank, saying the investigation and case-building are ongoing. /apl
