KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 11 — Two men suspected of stealing cables were arrested after the car they were travelling in crashed into a drain while fleeing from police in Taman Sri Watan, Ampang, yesterday.

Ampang Jaya police chief ACP Khairul Anuar Khalid said police received a tip-off from the public at about 5.53am.

He said a police patrol spotted a blue Perodua Aruz without registration plates parked by Jalan Watan 8. The driver attempted to flee when police arrived, prompting a chase that ended when the car crashed into a drain.

“Both men in the vehicle were arrested,” he said in a statement today.

The case is being investigated under Sections 186, 379, 431A and 124K of the Penal Code, as well as Section 235 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
