India’s Shafali Verma scored her maiden T20I century during the Asian Games 2026 semifinal against Bangladesh on Sunday.
The 22-year-old had notched up her fifty in just 24 balls before bringing up her first-ever ton in this format in 49 balls.
She became just the third Indian to score a century in the format, joining the likes of Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur.
With this knock, Shafali also recorded the highest individual score in a women’s cricket match at the Asian Games. She went Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu, who smacked an unbeaten 83 in the first semifinal against Pakistan earlier in the day.
Her swashbuckling form continues after smacking three half-centuries in the recently concluded Women’s Asia Cup 2026 in UAE, where she finished a triumphant campaign as the leading scorer with 236 runs.
