Heavy flooding remains in eastern Bangkok

Bangkok governor Chadchart Sittipunt said heavy flooding continued in eastern districts of Bangkok as most main canals remained full on Sunday.

The governor said during his live Facebook post on Sunday morning that water filled the Lat Phrao canal, the Prawet Burirom canal, the Prem Prachakorn canal and the Saen Saep canal where water pumps had problems.

Heavy floods struck Lat Krabang district heavily as there were more than 30,000 victims. Other areas with severe flooding included Ramkhamhaeng and Bang Kapi as rain measured about 10 millimetres on Sunday morning, he said.

“Serious flooding continues in eastern districts of the capital and officials try to speed up drainage there,” the Bangkok governor said while being a passenger of a taxi motorcyclist towards City Hall in Din Daeng district.

The Drainage and Sewerage Department of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration reported deep flood levels on Bangkok streets as follows:

• 59 centimetres on Soi Senanikhom Road in Chatuchak district
• 54cm on Lat Phrao 122 Road (Chaleena Princess Hotel) in Wang Thonglang district
• 53cm on Ngam Wong Wan Road (Phong Phet intersection) in Laksi district
• 46.6cm on Pattanakan Road (intersection with Srinagarindra Road) in Suan Luang district
• 42.0cm on Ramkhamhaeng 43/1 Road in Wang Thonglang district
• 41.7cm on Nawamin Road (Santi Asok) in Bung Kum district
• 36.3cm on Ngam Wong Wan Road (Soi Chinakhet Alley) in Laksi district
• 29.9cm on Phetchaburi Road (Singha Complex) in Huai Khwang district

Floodwater was 20cm deep on:

• Chaokhun Thahan Road in Lat Krabang
• Thepharak Road in Bang Khen
• Senanikhom 1 Road in Chatuchak and Lat Phrao
• Chaeng Watthana Road in Bang Khen
• Chang Akat Uthit Road in Don Muang
• Nawamin 155 and Nawamin 38 roads in Bung Kum
• Prasert Manukit Road in Bung Kum
• Phahon Yothin Road in Bang Khen and Chatuchak districts
• Pattanakan 53 Road in Suan Luang district.

Also 20cm under water were:

• Lat Phrao 89 and 110 roads in Wang Thonglang
• Lat Phrao 64 Road in Lat Phrao

• Vibhavadi Road (near Kamphaeng Phet Road) in Don Muang
• Srinagarindra Road (Lam Salee intersection) in Bang Kapi
• Srinagarindra Road (near Kamphaeng Phet 7 Road) in Suan Luang

Flood levels ranging from 8.5 to 15.7cm were reported on Phahon Yothin 60/1 and Sukhaphiban 5 roads in Sai Mai district, Lat Krabang 30/1 Road in Lat Krabang, Phahon Yothin Road at the 11th Infantry Regiment in Bang Khen and Seri Thai Road (at Bangchan Industrial Estate) in Bung Kum.
