The Nigerian Breweries-Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund has named 10 finalists of the 2026 Maltina Teacher of the Year competition, with the overall winner set to receive a N10m cash prize and a brand-new Honda HR-V.

The winner’s package also includes N30m in infrastructure for the winning teacher’s school, a one-year supply of Maltina, and international capacity-building training.

The finalists emerged after a second-phase assessment of 213 teachers by the panel of judges, following 2,243 valid entries from teachers across the country.

A statement by the Nigerian Breweries-Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund named the finalists as Egwu Ngozi of Ibeku High School, Abia State; Ephraim Inyangudo of Comprehensive Secondary School, Akwa Ibom State; Edumu Christopher of MasterCare International School, Asaba, Delta State.

The list of finalists also includes Isaac of Bethel Secondary School, Benin City, Edo State; Adeboye Vincent of Ikole City College, Ekiti State; Obiora Uzoamaka of Deeper Life High School, Enugu State; Yusuf Cariyat of Wisdom International School of Excellence, Abuja.

Others are Adeyemo Victoria of Lanre Awolokun High School, Gbagada, Lagos State; Omotayo Akintunde of Ilugun High School Junior, Abeokuta, Ogun State; and Okegbemi Olukemi of Ilado/Sagbo Community Grammar School, Iseyin, Oyo State.

The finalists will undergo an online assessment and physical screening before the judges, where they will defend their entries and demonstrate why they deserve the award.

The overall winner and state champions will be announced at the competition’s grand finale scheduled for October 30, 2026, in Lagos.

Speaking on the emergence of the finalists, Nigerian Breweries Plc’s Corporate Affairs Director, Uzodinma Odenigbo, commended the teachers for their dedication to the profession and commitment to shaping future generations.

He said the selection reflected the quality of talent and commitment among teachers in Nigeria, adding that the organisers looked forward to celebrating the outstanding educators at the grand finale.
