The Legend of Zelda is gearing up for numerous new releases, including the highly anticipated Ocarina of Time remake. However, beyond that and well into 2027 still remains somewhat of a mystery, with Nintendo having kept most of its cards close to its proverbial chest. Fortunately, we do have a little bit of insight into a handful of releases fans can expect to see in 2027, including a lore-heavy prequel that will be a must-buy for dedicated devotees.

Joining the upcoming Legend of Zelda remaster in 2027 is a brand-new prequel release for one of the best Legend of Zelda games released thus far. It delves deep into the history of Hyrule leading up to the events of the game while also showcasing behind-the-scenes information and photos, concept art, and so much more. This hardback book will be an essential addition to any fan's collection, especially those interested in the game's deeply compelling lore.

Alongside the staggeringly exorbitant $519.99 Legend of Zelda project is the latest release from Dark Horse. Titled The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - Secrets of the Zonai, this hardcover book covers everything one would want to know about the open-world epic, ranging from behind-the-scenes information to detailed breakdowns about the Zonai and their history prior to the start of TotK. It's a pretty extensive compilation, one that has a bit of everything for fans to sink their teeth into. In it, you'll get:

  • Over 50 pages of art for Tears of the Kingdom
  • Nearly 300 pages of behind-the-scenes information, including sketches, notes, rough designs, concept art, and recollections
  • Over 80 pages of lore about the Zonai and the history of Hyrule leading up to TotK
  • Interviews with Producer Eiji Aonuma, Director Hidemaro Fujibayashi, and Art Director Satoru Takizawa
The assorted extras from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - Secrets of the Zonai book.

The book, which can be pre-ordered from the official Dark Horse store, comes in two different versions. There's the Standard Edition, which is just the 472-page book with no bells or whistles. This is a hardback copy with assorted characters from Tears of the Kingdom on the cover. The Hero Edition comes with the book alongside a handful of extras, including a green slipcase for the book, an exclusive cover, an art print of Link and the Sages, a cloth map showcasing the depths of Hyrule, and a Zelda Tear replica.

The Standard Edition costs $59.99, while the Hero Edition is $119.99. The Secrets of the Zonai book was originally scheduled to launch in October 2026, but was later pushed back to March 30, 2027, which is its current release date. Frankly, this may be the closest we get to another Wilds-era Zelda project, which is a great shame considering the potential for a whole new game. Regardless, this lore-filled book should serve as a great addition to any collection or merely a fantastic companion piece to one of the best Legend of Zelda games ever made.
