Akshay Kumar and R Madhavan to team up for Sajid Khan’s comedy film, Disha Patani and Shriya Saran also join

Akshay Kumar and R Madhavan are reportedly set to reunite for an untitled comedy directed by Sajid Khan. The project will bring the two actors together in a light-hearted setting nearly 14 years after their last comedy collaboration in ‘Housefull 2’.

Their most recent outing together, ‘Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh’ (2025), saw them play adversaries, while the new film will reportedly have them on the same side.

R Madhavan joins Akshay Kumar in Sajid Khan’s comedy

According to Mid-day, R Madhavan has come on board Sajid Khan’s next comedy, which is expected to be an out-and-out entertainer. The report describes the film as a “hilarious comedy of errors” centred on middle-aged men and mounted on a large scale.

Madhavan, who has displayed his comic timing in several projects, will reportedly take on a role unlike those he has played before in this particular space. The film marks his first pairing with Akshay in a full-fledged Sajid Khan comedy, following their courtroom drama ‘Kesari Chapter 2’.

Disha Patani and Shriya Saran to play romantic leads

The untitled comedy is backed by producer Ektaa R Kapoor and will also feature Disha Patani and Shriya Saran. According to the report, the two actresses will play the romantic leads opposite the male protagonists.

The film is expected to revolve around a series of comic misunderstandings involving its middle-aged male characters, with the story being mounted on a larger scale than a conventional situational comedy.

When will Akshay Kumar and R Madhavan’s film go on floors?

The film is expected to begin production in London towards the end of this year or in early 2027. Akshay is reportedly set to follow a start-to-finish schedule after completing ‘Samuk’. Meanwhile, Sajid Khan is currently occupied with ‘Hero Ki Horrorine’, starring Yashvardhan Ahuja and Nitanshi Goel.

Once that project is completed, the filmmaker is expected to begin work on his next comedy.

Akshay Kumar’s work front

Akshay Kumar was last seen in ‘Haiwaan’, co-starring Saif Ali Khan. The film arrived in theatres on September 11, 2026. The actor has several projects lined up as he continues to balance comedy, action and drama across his upcoming slate.

R Madhavan’s filmography

R Madhavan has worked extensively across Hindi and Tamil cinema, with films such as ‘Alaipayuthey’, ‘Anbe Sivam’, ‘3 Idiots’ and ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ among his notable credits. He has also been part of the ‘Dhurandhar’ franchise.
