Prabowo welcomes Egyptian President El-Sisi at Merdeka Palace

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto received Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi at the Merdeka Palace on Sunday to strengthen bilateral ties and expand strategic cooperation.
El-Sisi arrived at the palace around 10:35 a.m., escorted by cavalry and motorcycle guards, where Subianto welcomed him in the west foyer before leading an official military reception with national anthems and an honor guard inspection.
The meeting between the two leaders forms part of broader efforts to reinforce the strategic partnership between Indonesia and Egypt across multiple sectors, according to Foreign Affairs Minister Arrmanatha Christiawan Nasir.
Following a private tête-à-tête and expanded delegation talks, the two heads of state are scheduled to witness the signing of several memorandums of understanding.
Key agreements cover diplomatic visa exemptions, statistical cooperation, fisheries development, and a joint action plan to deepen bilateral relations.
The state visit serves as a reciprocal gesture following Subianto's earlier trips to Egypt in 2024 and 2025.
Indonesia marks the final leg of El-Sisi’s Asian tour, which included stops in South Korea and Malaysia.
The Egyptian president arrived at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base on Saturday afternoon, where his aircraft was escorted into Indonesian airspace by a formation of Sukhoi Su-27/30 and F-16 fighter jets.
