Aina Earns Glasner’s Praise After Forest’s Win Against Villa

Nottingham Forest head coach Oliver Glasner has praised Ola Aina for his impressive performance in the club’s 2-1 victory over Aston Villa on Saturday.

The Nigeria international was handed an unfamiliar role at the heart of Forest’s defence after injuries ruled out two of the club’s regular centre-backs.

Despite the positional change, Aina delivered a composed and assured display as Forest secured an important away victory.

The 30-year-old made three tackles, one interception and four clearances during the keenly contested encounter.

Glasner Full Of Praise For Defender

Glasner revealed that he was forced to make a late tactical adjustment after receiving confirmation of the injuries to his two centre-backs.

“The circumstances we had yesterday, it was in the evening that I got the results of the scans and, all of a sudden, both centre-backs couldn’t play,” Glasner told Forest TV.

“I knocked on Ola and Ousmane’s door and told them that they would start tomorrow in a back three.”

Aina Rises To The Challenge

According to Glasner, Aina responded confidently when presented with the challenge and showed he was ready to adapt to the unfamiliar position.

“Especially with Ola, I had to ask him if he could imagine that this could work, and he said he could, and I knew he could,” Glasner added.

“There are many challenges we have to overcome today, that’s why I am really proud of the performance and the win.”
