Police are tracking down suspects involved in a shooting incident in which several shots were fired at a BMW in front of a house in Taman Hijau, Kampung Koh, near Sitiawan, yesterday.

Manjung police chief Hasbullah Abd Rahman said police received a report from a man regarding the incident yesterday.

He said an initial investigation revealed that the incident occurred at 4.16am on the same day, when the complainant, who was inside his house, heard what sounded like gunshots.

He added that at about 9am, the complainant discovered four bullet marks on the right-side doors of his vehicle.

“A review of closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage at the scene showed two unidentified suspects approaching the vehicle on a motorcycle,” Hasbullah said in a statement today.

“One of the suspects was seen firing several shots at the vehicle before fleeing. Police have opened an investigation paper and the case is being investigated under Section 39 of the Arms Act 1960,” he said, adding that efforts to track down the suspects were ongoing.

Hasbullah said members of the public with any information on the incident were urged to come forward at the Manjung police headquarters or contact its operations room at 05-688 6222, the WhatsApp hotline at 017-682 8005, or any nearby police station.
