Daft Punk team up with Lego for new set of the duo and iconic Pyramid

Translate

Daft Punk have joined forces with Lego for a new collaboration, which so far includes a set of the duo and the iconic Pyramid they had on one of their tours.

The partnership was unveiled in a new promotional video, which showed minifigures of the duo – formed of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo – finding a holographic red brick and following it through a dark landscape.

In the new collab, there is a brand new Lego set replicating the iconic Pyramid stage design that the French electronic music icons had when they hit the road in 2007 for their ‘Alive Tour’.

The design has been around for a few years now, having first been submitted in a 2020 competition, where Lego fans had to enter music-themed entries. The Daft Punk pyramid went on to win the competition, and was confirmed to be going into full development by the brand.

“The pyramid stage is one of the most recognisable expressions of Daft Punk’s visual world, so it feels fitting that this fan-created design will be centre stage of this partnership,” said Daft Punk’s creative director Cédric Hervet. “Fans have always played an important part in Daft Punk’s story, and we are excited to see that creativity reflected through the Lego universe.”

Julia Goldin, Chief Product & Marketing Officer at the Lego Group, added that the collaboration works as both LEGO and Daft Punk continuously “inspire generations through creativity, innovation and a deep connection with fans”.

The partnership is set to continue, and Lefo has said that the pyramid set will be the first of a number of different Daft Punk-themed releases on the way. Details remain vague about what will come next, but Lego has said that it will see “the duo brought to life in new ways across the Lego brand, through a mashup of surprising events and content that crosses music, culture and creative spaces.”

This isn’t the first time that we’ve seen the iconic duo in Lego form, as in 2024 they also starred in minifigure-form in the animated documentary Piece by Piece. That project was spearheaded by Pharrell Williams and also started Gwen Stefani, Kendrick Lamar, Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, Snoop Dogg, and Busta Rhymes in LEGO form.

Daft Punk split in 2021 after 28 years together. Both members have spoken about the necessity of the split, with Bangalter admitting he was “relieved” over the way that the band ended.

Earlier this year, the duo marked five years since their split with a new video for their 2005 single ‘Human After All’ but Bangalter ruled out a reunion as there were still “other things to explore” away from Daft Punk.

Since then, reports have emerged that the duo turned down an offer to create the GTA 6 soundtrack, before fellow French electronic music stars Justice said yes.
