Netflix has some of the best, most thrilling series of any streaming platform. There exist those special thrillers that grab viewers' attention immediately and keep them in a state of pure excitement from one episode to the next. Most of those Netflix thrill rides are built around mystery, crime, danger, betrayal, and impossible choices, where every installment either raises the stakes even higher or adds another complication, never truly slowing down.

Amazing shows like the iconic survival thriller, Squid Game, which turns deadly children’s games into a devastating story exploring fear, desperation, and emotional pressure, and the apocalyptic good time Kingdom—a memorable period thriller that ensures every episode feels urgent—are two of the finest examples of Netflix’s heart-pumping watches. On this list are especially great Netflix shows that stand out as some of the best fast-paced shows ever seen on TV.

10 'Cyberpunk: Edgerunners' (2022–Present)

This captivating animated series is one of Netflix’s most relentless thrill rides that never lets the pressure drop. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners follows the gifted but financially struggling teen David Martinez (Zach Aguilar) living in Night City, as he becomes an edgerunner in a violent world obsessed with body mods, technology, crime, and survival.

Every one of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners episodes is packed full of danger, speed, and emotional force, which makes it incredibly hard to pause. In fact, the show’s ten episodes actually leave no room for coasting of any kind, moving from poverty and school to crime, romance, corporate pursuit, escalating jobs, cybernetic overload, and tragedy at an almost horrifying pace. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is an extremely good time that has received strong praise for its action, animation, and absolute thrill that hits its audience at breakneck speed.

9 'The Recruit' (2022–2025)

The Recruit is a spy action thriller series that wields a comic premise that allows it to skip the more traditional ultra-competent hero. The series centers around Owen Hendricks (Noah Centineo), who has only just begun working as a lawyer for the CIA and quickly becomes entangled in a massive threat as a legal problem becomes an international mess filled with secrets, threats, and risky decisions.

The Recruit moves with a nervous energy that highlights a reluctant hero who has to improvise his way through dangerous intelligence work. This makes for a fast-paced, unpredictable watch that has no problem keeping its energy up as its leading man tries his best to always stay caught up. With an entertaining thrill that comes from watching someone extremely intelligent be forced into increasingly dangerous situations, often unprepared, The Recruit stands as a Netflix thriller that definitely never slows down.

8 'The Chestnut Man' (2021–Present)

Naia Thulin (Danica Ćurčić) and Mark Hess (Mikkel Boe Folsgaard) sit on a log in The Chestnut Man. Image via Netflix

This quality Danish thriller is a fascinating watch as it keeps moving because every discovery makes the daunting cases darker, and every clue found feels pretty disturbing. The Chestnut Man focuses on detectives who are investigating a series of murders connected by small chestnut figurines left at each crime scene.

While most Nordic noir dramas can be intentionally glacial, The Chestnut Man is pretty far from that. It’s a thrilling series that keeps its genre’s procedural detail and gray atmosphere but also cleverly structures moments of investigation around concrete discoveries that continually narrow or redirect the hunt. This gives the show a steady and quite chilling momentum. The Chestnut Man easily makes this list because each chapter pushes the detectives closer to a truth that feels more unsettling the more they uncover, marking the series a memorable thrill ride.

7 'Kingdom' (2019–2020)

This underrated Netflix thriller series is a zombie horror worth talking about. Set in a fictionalized Joseon Korea, Kingdom follows Crown Prince Lee Chang (Ju Ji-hoon) as he investigates rumors surrounding his mysteriously ill father and discovers that the royal court is concealing something far more terrifying than an ordinary succession dilemma.

Kingdom is a captivating thriller that stands as one of Netflix’s most overlooked works in the genre. Its thrill is delivered through the human power struggle, which is almost as dangerous as the terrible outbreak itself. Kingdom may have just one season under its belt, but it is a great zombie series that solves the common pacing issue seen in so many others of its kind. The show is brilliantly ambitious, with each and every episode raising the stakes, not only with flesh-eating monsters but also with betrayals, political conspiracies, and an increasingly dangerous struggle for the throne, making the series an underrated standout that genuinely refuses to slow down.

6 'Bloodhounds' (2023–Present)

Bloodhounds is a genuinely direct and vastly satisfying thriller that uses each of its episodes to push conflicts through schemes, fights, and escalating stakes. The Korean series centers on two young boxers who quite suddenly become involved in a fight against ruthless loan sharks and the powerful people who exploit the defenseless.

Bloodhounds is an underrated good time with a secret weapon made through its extremely simple emotional foundation. It’s the show’s directness that allows it to move so quickly, going from training and friendship straight into retaliation, infiltration, ambushes, and escalating gang violence, all without needing a dense mythology. Bloodhounds is an action, adrenaline-pumping series that truly delivers, as it offers its audience a mix of intensity, emotion, and hard-hitting moments of physicality, marking it as a natural fit for this list.

Collider Exclusive · 8 Questions · 2 Minutes Which Netflix Character Would Be Your Best Friend? Dustin · Emily · Wednesday · Gi-hun

Some friends drag you out of the house. Some sit with you on the worst night of your life. Netflix has written both, plus the one who tells you the truth you have been avoiding all week. Answer eight quick questions about how you actually do friendship, and find out which of them was always going to end up in your corner.

🧢Dustin(Stranger Things)

🗼Emily(Emily in Paris)

🕷️Wednesday(Wednesday)

🟢Gi-hun(Squid Game)

01

How do you usually end up making a new friend? The origin story says a lot about the friendship that follows it.

02

What is a perfect Saturday with your best friend? Friendship is mostly built out of very ordinary hours.

03

You call them at two in the morning. What happens? This is the real test of a friendship, and everybody knows it.

04

What do you want from them when you are clearly wrong? The best friendships are the ones that survive being corrected.

05

What do your friends actually value about you? The friend you attract says something about the friend you are.

06

You have a falling out. How does it go? How a friendship repairs itself matters more than how it breaks.

07

What do you actually need a best friend for? Everybody is missing something. The right friend fills that gap.

08

Ten years from now, what keeps the two of you close? Eight questions in, this is the one that decides who you get.

The Group Chat Has Spoken Your Best Friend Is…

Four Netflix characters, four completely different ways of showing up for somebody. This is the one who fits how you actually do friendship, and what having them in your life would be like.

Dustin Henderson

You do not do friendship at half volume, and neither does he. What you want is somebody who says yes to the plan before you have finished describing the plan.

  • Dustin is the friend the entire show runs on: loyal past the point of sense, enthusiastic about everything, and incapable of leaving anybody behind.
  • You have the same instinct. Your friendships are loud, specific and slightly ridiculous, and they last for decades because of it.
  • He is also the one person who would take your strangest interest completely seriously, which is far rarer than it sounds.
  • You would have a group chat. It would never once be quiet.

Emily Cooper

You are the friend who makes things happen, and so is she. Together you would be mildly exhausting to everyone around you and completely delighted with yourselves.

  • Emily treats an ordinary Tuesday as something that could be turned into an occasion, which is either the best or the worst quality in a friend depending on your energy levels.
  • You share her refusal to sit still. Neither of you has ever accepted a night in when something was happening somewhere else.
  • She is far more loyal than people give her credit for. She defends her friends loudly, publicly, and occasionally before checking the facts.
  • She would post the photo without asking. You would forgive her, because it is a very good photo.

Wednesday Addams

You have no patience for pleasant lies, and she has no ability to tell them. What looks like coldness from the outside is the most reliable friendship on this list.

  • Wednesday never says a kind thing she does not mean, which makes the rare ones count for an enormous amount.
  • You would rather be told the truth than be made comfortable. She is constitutionally incapable of offering you anything else.
  • Underneath all of it she is ferociously protective. She simply refuses to make a performance out of caring.
  • Do not expect a birthday message. Do expect her to ruin anyone who wrongs you.

Seong Gi-hun

You look after whoever is having the worst day. So does he. It is the least strategic way to move through the world and the best possible quality in a friend.

  • Gi-hun is not the strongest player in Squid Game, or the cleverest. He is the one who keeps choosing to protect somebody else, over and over, at genuine cost to himself.
  • You have the same instinct. You notice who is struggling and you stay with them, long after anybody would blame you for leaving.
  • He is a flawed friend, and that is part of why it lands. He lets people down, then comes back and tries again, which is more than most manage.
  • He would give you his last chance and never once mention that he had done it.

5 'Bodyguard' (2018)

This acclaimed political thriller show brilliantly turns trust into its central question, ensuring viewers are constantly unsure who is lying, who is safe, and just how much the leading man himself can endure. Bodyguard focuses on British Army veteran David Budd (Richard Madden), who, after suffering from severe psychological scars while serving in Afghanistan, now works for London's Metropolitan Police as a specialist protection officer.

Bodyguard makes it clear just what kind of thrill viewers should expect from it pretty early into its first episode as it delivers its famously prolonged high-stakes opening sequence. The Netflix political drama is one that refuses to relax, operating as a unique pressure chamber where practically every episode introduces another conspiracy, threat, or dangerous complication. Bodyguard honestly refuses to slow down, maintaining relentless tension throughout its brief run, dubbing it a thrilling series that rarely gives its audience a moment to catch their breath.

4 'The Night Agent' (2023–Present)

The Night Agent is a fantastic pick for this list—a relentless Netflix thriller that is practically built for nonstop viewing because of how quickly the danger spreads throughout the series. The show follows junior FBI agent Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso), who is assigned to an almost absurdly uneventful job in the basement of the White House: monitoring an emergency telephone that so rarely rings—until it actually does.

The Night Agent is a pretty easy action thriller to binge. It's one of Netflix’s clearest examples of the “one more episode” conspiracy machine. The Night Agent is an ongoing bout of problem-solving, a series that never leaves its protagonist without a dangerous situation to escape, threat to confront, or secret to uncover. Each clear answer often comes with a bigger problem, keeping the series moving at a ruthless pace, marking each episode as a thrill ride worth indulging in.

3 'Squid Game' (2021–2025)

Lee Jung-jae in Squid Game Image via Netflix

This amazing, heart-stopping thriller is an icon in its own right because it truly understands episodic momentum. Squid Game centers around poverty-stricken Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), who is not only drowning in debt but is also increasingly estranged from his daughter. His solution to his financial situation is a competition in which other financially desperate adults play seemingly innocent children's games for an enormous cash prize, only there are rather extreme consequences for losing.

Squid Game is definitely one of Netflix’s most watchable, adrenaline-pumping thrillers that left quite the lasting impression. There is no doubt that the series is able to immediately grip its viewers with its world of bright colors and familiar games, as it rips away any sense of childhood innocence by transforming playground activities into a genuine bloodbath. Squid Game is absolutely a survival thriller that made its mark in the genre, and even with mixed reviews due to its later seasons, the show stands as an unpredictably good time that makes slowing down rather difficult.

2 'Money Heist' (2017–2021)

Money Heist stands strong as one of Netflix’s most thrilling shows due to its ability to turn a robbery into a long, emotional war of nerves. Money Heist centers on a criminal mastermind simply known as the Professor (Álvaro Morte) as he recruits a carefully selected team for a daring assault on Spain's Royal Mint.

Money Heist is a Netflix staple that delivers a fast pace, with every episode adding new complications inside and outside various plans. It's one of the few Netflix thrillers that truly know how to stretch tension effectively. Money Heist easily makes this list because even when the story takes a moment to slow down physically, the pressure never truly disappears, marking the series as an addictive bout of heart-pumping brilliance.

1 'Alice in Borderland' (2020–2025)

Image of Tao Tsuchiya raising her fist in 'Alice in Borderland' Season 2. Image via Netflix

Before there was Squid Game, there was the underrated thriller Alice in Borderland. The Japanese survival thriller follows an extremely intelligent slacker, Ryohei Arisu (Kento Yamazaki), who, along with his friends, is suddenly trapped in an emptied-out Tokyo and forced to participate in deadly games that must be played in order to survive.

Alice in Borderland is definitely an overlooked good time that is sadly often outshone by bigger names in its genre. The show wields the ability to make every moment of survival feel genuinely earned, as characters are forced to use their teamwork, intelligence, and sheer force of will to make it through increasingly dangerous games. Very few Netflix shows even come close to making survival feel as intense and clever as Alice in Borderland, with each episode standing as a thrilling building block that keeps the show moving at an incredibly adrenaline-inducing pace.
