Wayne Rooney's jungle glow up: Footballer is set to take on I'm A Celebrity after weight loss, a nose job and Invisalign

Translate

Most stars exit the jungle with dramatically slimmer frames after living on rice and beans for the duration of their stint.

Yet Wayne Rooney has made it his mission to enter the I'm A Celebrity camp with a completely new look.

The footballer, 41, has had quite the transformation in recent months after losing a noticeable amount of weight from overhauling his lifestyle.

So much so that Wayne revealed he was back in athlete shape as he was seen wearing a coat from his football playing days this week.

As part of his glow-up to turn back the clock, Wayne has undergone Invisalign and a nose job to transform his smile and face.

Rumours began to swirl that Wayne was on weight loss jabs after he dropped the pounds but he has insisted it is down to simple changes.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Wayne shared that he 'worked really hard' to lose weight in the gym, and laughed off the idea he'd used jabs.

Asked to share the secret to his weight loss, Wayne said: 'Apparently I've seen recently I've been taking this pen thing about me.

'It's a shame, because I'm working really hard to lose weight. Apparently I've been on the pen.'

'I feel great, I haven't drank for a while. I just wanted to feel healthier and be healthier so I've changed my eating habits and training,' he added on This Morning.

'Everyone's saying I'm on this pen thing. but I'm not, I've been working out to try and look better and be healthier.'

Since his career pivot, which has seen him leave football management behind for punditry, podcasting and TV work, Wayne has focused more on his health and family life.

'I've found more balance,' he said, adding that 'it's helped me get back to a much better place'.

'When I stopped playing, I got in a rut, I was drinking too much and not getting into the routine of training and I just thought, "You know what I want to enjoy the time with the kids whilst they're at this age, and with Coleen as well and I actually have been more present, more there for them,' he explained.

Wayne also revealed that his wife was the one who encouraged him to go under the knife for his recent nose job, after he broke it while playing for DC United.

Coleen added: 'I tried to get him to do it because of his snoring,' while her husband clarified: 'I couldn't blow one side out of my nose and so I had it fixed.'

Wayne revealed that he was feeling 'a little bit uncomfortable' following the surgery.

He said: 'It's actually really lucky I've got no black eyes, but I've still got two plastic tubes up my nose, which are coming out very soon. I can't wait for them to come out.

'So, they've cut here [under my nostrils]... So, that's all stitched – a little bit uncomfortable.'

Wayne stepped out with a freshly shaven appearance this week as he watched his son Kai in a Manchester United youth game.

Ahead of jetting off to Australia in a matter of days, Wayne is making sure that he fulfills his supporting parenting duties.

Wayne and Coleen, who came second in last year's I'm A Celebrity, share sons Kai, 17, Klay, 13, Kit, ten, and Cass, eight.

Wayne has already emerged as the early favourite to win this year's show – as he follows in the footsteps of his wife Coleen, who appeared on the show back in 2024.

According to odds by William Hill, the sports star is already in the lead to be crowned King of the Jungle, with his odds at 11/4.

Comedian Leigh Francis, Gavin & Stacey star Joanna Page and social media star Sharky are all joint-second with odds of 6/1, with Chloe Burrows completing the top five with her odds at 9/1.

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: 'There's a decent bit of pressure on Wayne Rooney to deliver in the Jungle, particularly with Coleen having come so close to winning the show in 2024.

'At 11/4, he's made a strong start in the betting and is the early name to beat.'

At the other end of the market, Mariella Frostrup (25/1) and Leomie Anderson (20/1) are the least-fancied selections from this year's crop.

The favourite ITV show is returning this month with ITV confirming the series will kick off on Monday, November 16 at 9pm.

Completing the series line-up is Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson, Paralympian and TV star Ade Adepitan, Big Brother host AJ Odudu, soap star Claire Sweeney and comedian Jack Skipper.

Wayne is set to have bagged the show's biggest fee in its 24-year history.

Bosses have reportedly offered the former footballer more than Coleen, 40, who made a record-breaking £1.5million for her jungle stint two years ago.

Last year, Wayne spoke about how he wanted to appear on I'm A Celebrity.

He said: '[I'm A Celebrity] is something I would never say no to, of course. I think I said on the after show when Coleen was in the jungle, that was the one we've always watched and the one we both said if there was anything we'd do it'd be that.

'So, you never know in the future, but I've got other things I'm looking at at the minute.'
