Brewers name Christian Yelich first official captain in franchise history
MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WFRV) - In a historic milestone for the franchise, the Milwaukee Brewers named outfielder and designated hitter Christian Yelich the first team captain in club history.
The Brewers announced the designation via social media, confirming that Yelich will wear the official captain's "C" patch on his jersey starting tonight and going forward.

Since arriving in Milwaukee prior to the 2018 season, Yelich has served as the anchor of the franchise on and off the field. During his tenure in Milwaukee, he earned the 2018 National League MVP award, back-to-back NL batting titles in 2018 and 2019, and three All-Star selections.
While designated captains are rare in the MLB compared to hockey or football, the honor underscores Yelich's leadership role as the longest-tenured active Brewer.
