The pre-shaded ballots discovered in 36 precincts in Maluso, Basilan, will be brought to Manila as part of the investigation, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said Tuesday evening.
In a memorandum, acting provincial election supervisor Miguel Dela Pena is ordered to secure and turn over the pre-shaded ballots to director Vergil Soriano, Basilan senior staff monitor.
Soriano is then tasked to hand over the pre-shaded ballots to Comelec's law department in Intramuros Manila, not later than September 17.
Comelec chairperson George Garcia said Maluso Municipal Board of Canvassers finished the canvass of the 68 precincts, including the 36 polling precincts, and transmission is ongoing.
Comelec spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco earlier said the individual behind the pre-shading of ballots in 36 polling precincts in Maluso, Basilan will face electoral sabotage charges that may result in life imprisonment.
Authorities are also identifying the candidates involved in the pre-shaded ballot incidents, as they may face disqualification. —LDF, GMA News
