India and the West Indies have been fined for maintaining slow over-rates during the third and final ODI of their three-match series in New Chandigarh on Saturday.India were four overs behind the required rate after time allowances were taken into account, while the West Indies were two overs short.

As a result, India were fined 20 per cent of their match fee, while the West Indies received a 10 per cent fine."In accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences, players are fined five per cent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time," the ICC said in a statement.

Both captains accepted the charges and the proposed sanctions, meaning there was no need for a formal hearing. The penalties were imposed by Prakash Bhatt of the ICC International Panel of Match Referees.On-field umpires Jayaraman Madanagopal and Sam Nogajski, third umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid and fourth umpire Virender Sharma had levelled the charges.

West Indies end ODI series on a high

The West Indies had already lost the three-match series 2-0 before the final ODI, but they finished the series with a memorable win.

Led by an unbeaten 162 from captain Shai Hope, the visitors successfully chased down 352, recording their highest successful run chase in ODI cricket.

Their previous best was 331/5 against Ireland in 2019.Hope also created history with his innings.
