Nyanza Bishops And Clergy Declare Support For President Ruto’s 2027 Re-Election Bid

Christian bishops and clergy leaders representing diverse denominations across the Nyanza region have formally endorsed President William Ruto’s 2027 re-election campaign.

The faith leaders, speaking during an interfaith consultative forum, commended the Kenya Kwanza administration for its commitment to equitable national development and grassroots inclusion. They highlighted the collaborative effort between the national government and local leadership—including regional governors, senators, and members of parliament—as a pivotal step toward breaking long-standing political isolation and driving economic progress across the lake basin.

Promoting Peace and De-Escalating Youth Restlessness

Reaffirming their dedicated role in maintaining regional stability, the clergy underscored the faith community’s proactive intervention during recent waves of civil unrest and political demonstrations. Church leaders noted that during heightened public tension, faith groups throughout Migori, Homa Bay, Kisumu, and Siaya counties actively mobilized to engage local youth, advocating for dialogue and peaceful resolution over street protests.

The bishops applauded the region’s young people for heeding the call to protect property and maintain public order, noting that choosing economic stability over destruction has set a positive trajectory for Nyanza’s future.

Beyond political alignment, the clergy pledged to continue utilizing their pulpits and community outreach programs to foster national unity and support transformative development agenda items.
