Debutants Ilenikhena, Usor power Super Eagles To Win Over Madagascar

The Super Eagles of Nigeria got their campaign in the AFCON qualifiers with a 2-1 comeback win over Madagascar at the Godswill Akpabio stadium in Uyo, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Nigeria were pegged behind in the 16th minute when their offside trap was beaten leaving goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali with no chance.

Super Eagles ensured they went into the break level with debutant George Ilenikhena racing onto a well weighted pass from Alex Iwobi to draw Nigeria level on the stroke of halftime.

Head coach of the Nigerian team Eric Chelle was brave five minutes after the hour mark, when he brought on Moses Simon for his 100th cap and handed a debut to Moses Usor.

It was a move which paid off with Usor capping his debut with a memorable solo goal to earn the Super Eagles a 2-1 win, ahead of Tuesday’s game against Guinea-Bissau.
