There is no shortage of terrifying and haunted elements throughout George R.R. Martin's Game of Thrones universe, but there's no question that the halls of Harrenhal are home to the franchise's darkest and most sinister lore. Built on the shores of the Gods Eye under the ruthless Harren the Black, the enormous fortress was supposed to be a monument to his power.

Instead, Aegon the Conqueror and his dragon Balerion reduced much of it to a charred ruin, killing Harren and his sons inside its walls. Centuries later, the castle's melted towers are a grim reminder of that slaughter. Between whispers of ghosts, mysterious deaths, and the unsettling visions depicted in House of the Dragon, the castle has become a place that any sane traveller across Westeros will avoid like the Grey Plague.

However, if you're feeling adventurous, Game of Thrones fans can brave the haunted castle just in time for Halloween, with the release of Wraiths of Harrenhal, available now in Dragonfire.

Game of Thrones: Dragonfire is celebrating Halloween with a brand-new limited-time event, Wraiths of Harrenhal, running from October 29 through November 3, 2026. The event will be available throughout the entire Halloween weekend, giving players several days to uncover the sinister mysteries surrounding one of Westeros' most infamous castles while battling supernatural enemies and earning in-game rewards.

For those unfamiliar, Game of Thrones: Dragonfire is Warner Bros. Games' free-to-play mobile strategy game inspired by HBO's House of the Dragon. Released this June, the game takes place during the Targaryen civil war, allowing players to become dragonriders, raise their own dragons, command armies, compete for control of Westeros through tactical, tile-based combat, etc.

The new Wraiths of Harrenhal event introduces "Harren's Fallen," a series of special enemy Encounters scattered across the game's map. Players will need to hunt down and defeat these enemies using Resolve, an in-game resource that regenerates over time or can be replenished with Gold up to three times a day.

Each successful Encounter awards event points, while defeating individual Defenders within those Encounters contributes toward players' leaderboard scores. Higher-level Encounters feature increasingly powerful enemies, offering a greater challenge for experienced dragonriders.

Harren's Fallen also possess a nasty ability called Haunting Strike, which has a 40% chance to inflict Tactical damage against enemies in the same lane. Successful attacks have an additional chance to deal even more damage and apply the Weakened status effect for two rounds, making these supernatural opponents especially dangerous.

Alongside Wraiths of Harrenhal, players can participate in The Witch's Curse, a separate Halloween-themed event introducing the mysterious Alys Rivers, whom House of the Dragon fans will recognize from the television series. This marks her first appearance in Dragonfire, offering players an opportunity to explore more of Harrenhal's disturbing history and potentially uncover some of the secrets behind the castle's supernatural lore.

The Witch's Curse is structured around daily login rewards, with progress earned simply by signing in and claiming rewards each day. Daily logins reset at 00:00 UTC, giving players another reason to return for the Halloween celebration. Both events will remain available through November 3, meaning players have a limited window to participate before Harren's Fallen disappear from Westeros.

Game of Thrones: Dragonfire is currently available as a free download on iOS and Android through the App Store and Google Play, respectively.
