When Akshay Kumar said his son Aarav Bhatia wants to carve his own identity: 'He wants to be away from the limelight, doesn't want to tell anyone he's my son'

Akshay Kumar has often spoken about the values instilled in him by his father, and the actor once revealed that he remains the biggest influence on his life. A while ago, Akshay opened up about the lessons he continues to follow and expressed hope that his son, Aarav, would carry forward the same values.During a conversation on ‘Into The Wild With Bear Grylls’, Akshay was asked who he considered his role model. The actor credited his father for shaping his outlook on life and said he continues to abide by the principles he learnt from him.“My father is the only influence I have had in my life. I have followed all his rules and all the things that he has taught me, and I hope my son gets that," Akshay said. The conversation also touched upon Akshay’s support for military personnel and charities working for veterans.

When Grylls asked him about his association with such causes, the actor explained that his father's background in the army had given him a deep respect for people serving in uniform.“Yeah it all comes because he was in the army. I love somebody who is wearing a uniform. I have a special attachment," he said.Akshay also spoke about ‘Bharat Ke Veer’, an initiative that allows people to contribute directly towards supporting the families of martyred personnel.

Explaining how the initiative works, he said, “There is a thing called ‘Bharat ke Veer’, where the martyrs’ families get money directly. It’s a service given by the government, but the money doesn’t go to the government but straight to the martyrs’ family, and they also come to know who has contributed to it.

"

Apart from discussing his father and his connection with the armed forces, Akshay also opened up about his relationship with his children.

The actor revealed that Aarav prefers to stay away from the spotlight and wants to establish an identity independent of his famous parents.“My son is very different. I mean, he just doesn’t want to tell anyone that he’s my son. He wants to be away from the limelight. He wants to have his own identity. That’s what the whole thing and I understand it. So, I let him be the way he wants to," the ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ actor said.
