GURGAON: A woman allegedly attacked her two-year-old son’s neck with a paper cutter at their home in Faridabad on Wednesday afternoon, seriously injuring the child. The woman was arrested after her husband filed a police complaint, and a case of attempt to murder was registered against her.According to police, the incident took place in the Naveen Nagar police post area on Aug 26. The child’s father, Krishna Kumar, a private company employee and resident of Faridabad’s Shiv Enclave Part-3, told police that he had been married to Kamlesh for around five years and that they have three children. In his complaint, Kumar alleged that Kamlesh often assaulted the children in anger. On Wednesday afternoon, she allegedly assaulted their two-year-old son.

When Kumar intervened, she allegedly picked up a paper cutter kept in the house and attacked the boy’s neck. The child suffered serious injuries and was taken to a civil hospital. Despite substantial blood loss, the child was saved after being rushed for timely treatment, police said.Officers from Naveen Nagar police post and Palla police station reached the spot after being informed. Based on Kumar’s complaint, a case was registered at Palla police station under Section 109 of BNS (attempt to murder), and an investigation began.

“During the investigation, we learnt that Kamlesh would stay at home with the children while her husband and mother-in-law went to work. She was under stress over the responsibility of looking after the children. Kamlesh, while under mental stress and in anger, picked up the paper cutter and attacked her son on Aug 26,” an investigator said. The Naveen Nagar police post team subsequently arrested Kamlesh from her house. She was produced before a court, which sent her to judicial custody.
