Farmers' terms of trade reaches 129.19 in August 2026 : BPS

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s national farmers’ terms of trade rose 1.05 percent in August from July to 129.19, Statistics Indonesia said, signaling stronger growth in prices received than paid by farmers.

The index of prices received by farmers rose 1.14 percent to 165.66, while the index of prices paid increased 0.09 percent to 128.24, BPS said on Tuesday.

Higher prices for unhusked rice, crude palm oil, rubber and broiler chickens contributed most to the increase in prices received by farmers, BPS said.

Higher prices for broiler chicken meat, rice, long beans and green beans contributed most to the increase in prices paid by farmers.

Horticulture recorded the largest decline, with its terms of trade falling 2.84 percent to 124.47 in August from 128.11 a month earlier.

The decline reflected a 2.81 percent drop in prices received by horticultural farmers, while prices paid rose 0.03 percent. Shallots, tomatoes and cabbage contributed to the decline.

All other subsectors recorded gains, led by food crops, whose terms of trade rose 1.62 percent to 118.04 from 116.16.

Plantation crops’ terms of trade increased 1.53 percent to 168.77 from 166.23, while livestock rose 0.96 percent to 102.33 from 101.35.

Fisheries terms of trade increased 0.69 percent to 108.60 in August from 107.86 in July, BPS said.

The gain was supported by a 0.50 percent increase in fishers’ terms of trade to 109.04 and a 0.99 percent rise for fish farmers to 107.91.

Frigate tuna, Indian mackerel, sea shrimp and anchovies contributed most to higher prices received by fishers, according to BPS.

Seaweed, milkfish raised in brackish water, brackish-water shrimp and freshwater gourami contributed most to higher prices received by fish farmers.
