Elon Musk says he plans to give one of his SpaceX shares to every child in the US starting next year. With around 72 million children in the US as of July 2025, Musk would be giving away about $10.5 billion worth of shares, according to a report from CNBC.
Musk, who runs SpaceX and Tesla, writes on X that this giveaway “will be the first of many.” It comes just months after SpaceX president Gwynne Shotwell announced that she’d be giving shares of her SpaceX stock to 2 million Trump Accounts, the tax-advantaged investment accounts given to American children. Dell’s founder similarly poured $6.25 billion into Trump Accounts, while Micron also announced a $250 million investment.
Along with giving away SpaceX shares, Musk has made large contributions to Republican midterm election efforts. Musk donated $158 million to the Senate Leadership Fund PAC in September, making up more than “half of the super PAC’s total receipts in the third quarter of this year,” according to CBS News. He also dumped $76 million into the Super PAC he founded in 2024, America PAC.
