Manchester United dealt new injury worry as Michael Carrick explains surprise late substitution

Rashford kept his place in the Man United starting lineup at Craven Cottage on Sunday, with head coach Michael Carrick making one change from the previous Premier League outing - the controversial 1-0 defeat in the Manchester derby.

While Rashford was hurt in the first half and then fouled by Timothy Castagne in the second half, he did not require any treatment from the United medical staff as he took the long route around the pitch before making his way to the away dugout.

Although, Carrick has since revealed Rashford picked up an issue and is "not sure" if the 28-year-old is OK.

"We had to bring him off as he had a bit of an issue," Carrick told beIN Sports.

"Marcus was a threat. He could have had a couple of goals for us today. He's another one who is getting himself in good positions, it's just not quite falling for him. It will.

“We know Marcus. We know how to get the best out of him and will continue to do that."

United were without Benjamin Sesko for the trip to the capital, although Amad Diallo, Matthijs de Ligt and Carlos Baleba should be read after the break when Tottenham visit Old Trafford on October 10.

"It was good to have Carlos [Baleba] today [on the bench]," Carrick told MUTV. "Amad, hopefully by the time we get back, he will have trained with the group. That's a positive. Matta is working towards his fitness as well."
