Syria closes Nasib border crossing with Jordan, suspends passenger travel and trade

The Syrian General Authority for Border Crossings and Customs announced the closure of Nasib border crossing with Jordan, suspending the movement of passengers and trade in both directions due to “current conditions and developments on the ground in the Daraa Governorate.”
Reuters reported that the decision to close the crossing followed airstrikes carried out by the Jordanian Air Force against what it described as militant hideouts in southern Syria.
The report indicated that the suspects involved in the deadly attack on a church in Karak Governorate on October 23 have links to “terrorist organizations” operating in the area.
Damascus has informed the Jordanian side of its reservations regarding the conduct of military operations inside Syrian territory without prior coordination, according to Syrian authorities.
The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that it remains in contact with Jordan to determine the reasons behind the raids and to clarify the circumstances surrounding them, in light of the developments unfolding in the border region between the two countries.
