WALANG PASOK: Palace suspends work, classes in NCR, 16 provinces Friday

MANILA, Philippines — The Malacañang has suspended the government work and classes at all levels, public and private, in the entire Metro Manila and 16 provinces on Friday afternoon due to inclement weather brought by the southwest monsoon, or habagat.

Under Memorandum Circular No. 132, issued by Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, Malacañang suspended government work and classes over the following areas starting 1 p.m. this Friday:

“Government agencies providing basic and health services, disaster preparedness and response, and other vital services will continue to operate,” Recto said in the memorandum.

He noted that local chief executives in areas not covered by the memorandum may also suspend classes and work in government offices in their respective areas.

As for the private sector, the suspension of work or adoption of alternative work arrangements will be left to management, he said. /mr
