2027: Every youth with phone, voice can sell Tinubu’s achievements — Yari
ABUJA — Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari, has said young Nigerians with access to phones and social media will be central to the campaign to sell President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s achievements ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to him, the campaign council wants young Nigerians to do more than vote for Tinubu. It wants them to take the administration’s story into their communities, across social media and wherever political conversations are taking place.
Yari spoke yesterday when he received Seyi Tinubu, who visited to congratulate him on his appointment and discuss stronger collaboration on youth mobilisation ahead of the elections.
Seyi was accompanied by the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande.
“Young people are not just the future of this country, they are the present. If we are going to tell the true story of what this administration has achieved, from infrastructure to the economy to security, it is our youth who will carry that message furthest, fastest, and most convincingly,” Yari said.
The former Zamfara governor said his meeting with Seyi Tinubu was focused on building bridges with youth-focused stakeholders, noting that Seyi had consistently demonstrated commitment to youth empowerment.
“My engagement with Seyi Tinubu today was about building bridges. He has consistently demonstrated genuine commitment to youth empowerment, and that is exactly the kind of energy this campaign needs,” he said.
Yari disclosed that the council was finalising a nationwide youth outreach framework that would deploy social media, community networks and grassroots structures to amplify the administration’s programmes and counter misinformation.
“Every young Nigerian with a phone and a voice is a potential messenger for this administration’s impact. Our job is to equip them with the facts and the platform to tell that story authentically,” he added.
He said the strategy was also intended to strengthen the campaign’s grassroots visibility as the 2027 contest gathers momentum.
Yari commended Seyi Tinubu for his role in fostering youth engagement within the party’s structures and expressed optimism that the emerging collaboration would translate into stronger visibility for the administration’s programmes.
He also acknowledged Olawande’s continued partnership on youth engagement initiatives and thanked Seyi Tinubu for the visit, which he described as a demonstration of confidence in the campaign council’s mandate.
Senior officials of the campaign council and members of Seyi Tinubu’s youth engagement team attended the meeting.
