Indonesia leverages growing appeal with new investment hub plan

Translate

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The government is advancing plans to establish the Indonesia Financial and Investment Center (IIFC) to capitalize on the country’s growing appeal as a global investment destination, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi said.

Speaking to reporters at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Saturday, he said Indonesia is widely recognized as a “high-potential” investment destination with “significant room for growth.”

He added that the country is well-positioned to attract capital from various nations, emphasizing the significance of establishing the IIFC as a supporting mechanism to capitalize on these advantages and opportunities.

Against this backdrop, Hadi emphasized the government’s commitment to “working as swiftly as possible” to turn the plans into reality.

President Prabowo Subianto announced in Jakarta on Friday (Aug. 14) that both Jakarta and Bali are set to host IIFC-branded estates.

In his speech on the 2027 Draft State Budget and its Financial Note at the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Building, he said the initial phase would focus on establishing the center in Jakarta, followed by a similar facility in Bali.

The president also pointed to the possibility of expanding the IIFC network to other regions considered attractive to investors and international funds.

Prabowo envisioned the IIFC as a new model for a financial hub in Indonesia, focusing on investment, financial technology, arbitration, and commercial dispute resolution in line with international standards.

Speaking separately on Friday, Investment and Downstreaming Minister Rosan Roeslani said the IIFC initiative had received a positive response from Asian investors and family offices he had met.

He referred to a recent meeting with 110 business professionals and entities from across Asia in Nusa Dua, Bali.
