Townsend Suffers Bizarre Injury After Being Run Over By Turf-Laying Machine

Former Premier League winger Andros Townsend has miraculously avoided serious injury after being run over by a pitch roller during a half-time warm-up in Thailand.

While warming up at half-time for PT Prachuap against Pattani, Townsend stepped into the path of a moving ride-on pitch roller.

The heavy machine struck his legs, knocked him to the ground, and partially passed over his thigh and hip. Teammates and stadium staff rushed over in immediate shock as the machinery was brought to a halt.

Miraculously, despite the terrifying nature of the mishap, the player escaped major structural damage, though the incident left everyone at the stadium completely shaken.

Though left out of the starting lineup due to the scare, Townsend remained on the bench and even came on as a substitute in the final minute of the match.

It should be noted that 35-year-old Townsend is a Tottenham academy graduate, having represented the club for several seasons.

In England, the winger also played for Newcastle, Crystal Palace, Everton and Luton, while spending loan spells at several clubs, including QPR and Leeds. He made 13 appearances for England and scored three goals.

In 2024, Townsend moved to Turkey, where he played for Antalyaspor before continuing his career in Thailand. In August 2026, he signed a contract with PT Prachuap.
