Table Mountain Cableway rolls out new ticketing options for visitors

Visiting Table Mountain is becoming easier to plan and visit, with the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company (TMACC) introducing WhatsApp ticketing and discounted fares.

The changes form part of TMACC’s Tourism Month focus, with the company highlighting the need to cater for both international tourists and local visitors.

You can now buy Table Mountain Cableway tickets on WhatsApp

Visitors can now purchase standard return and one-way Cableway tickets through WhatsApp via Webtickets.

The option is available through the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway ticketing page on Webtickets, or by scanning a QR code at the Ticket Office or while waiting at the Lower Station.

WhatsApp tickets are valid for seven days, and you can fully refund unused tickets through the platform during that period.

Concession fares and special offers are not available through WhatsApp and must still be purchased through the relevant existing channels.

Discounts for children, students and seniors

TMACC offers several discounted fares and specials for different groups.

Children aged four to 17 pay R230 for a return ticket when purchased online, or R270 at the Ticket Office. One-way tickets cost R165 online or R180 at the Ticket Office. Children under four travel free.

South African senior citizens aged 60 and older pay R130 for a return ticket or R80 one way. The senior rate is available seven days a week online and at the Ticket Office, with a valid South African ID required.

Students, both local and international, can pay R320 for a return ticket or R200 one way with a valid student card. Student tickets must be purchased at the Lower Station Ticket Office.

South Africans can also make use of the Birthday Special, which provides a free Cableway ticket on any day during their birthday month. The ticket must be collected at the Ticket Office or Visitor Information Centre using valid South African identification.

The Local is Lekker promotion offers South African residents return tickets for R265 for adults and R135 for children. For September 2026, the promotion runs until 30 September, is available online only and must be purchased before the day of the visit. An SA ID is required.

For frequent visitors, the Virtual Cable Card offers year-round access. The 2026/27 rates are R1 700 for adults, R850 for children aged four to 17 and R950 for South African pensioners aged 60 and older. Cardholders can also receive discounts on selected purchases at the mountain.

It is worth noting that concession fares and special offers cannot be purchased through WhatsApp. The WhatsApp service is currently limited to standard return and one-way Cableway tickets.
