The Scotland international had missed Napoli’s last four matches prior to the international break due to surgery after being diagnosed with a mild, benign arrhythmia.

The procedure was carried out in McTominay’s hometown of Manchester on September 8: A decision taken by the player and the club in order to minimise the number of matches he would miss heading into the extra-long September-October international break.
The former Manchester United midfielder was given two weeks of full rest before making his return to full training with Napoli during the international break.
McTominay was brought off the bench after an hour during Napoli’s 3-0 victory over Frosinone in Serie A and has since taken to Instagram to send a message to the Partenopei supporters after his winning return to action.
“I’m back & with a fresh desire,” wrote McTominay in a post on Sunday.
