Translate

EXCLUSIVE: John Leguizamo, star of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, is to be honored at the upcoming São Paulo International Film Festival, Brazil.

The program of the 50th edition of the festival, which runs through October 29, will include a masterclass with the actor, as well as the presentation of the Leon Cakoff Award, named after the festival founder.

On Monday, October 26, the Tony and Emmy winner will take part in a masterclass and receive the Leon Cakoff Award in recognition of his career, presented by Renata de Almeida, director of the festival. Named after the festival’s founder, the award “recognizes distinguished figures in culture and the audiovisual industry.”

Screen vet Leguizamo most recently played Eumaeus, Odysseus’ faithful servant and friend, in Christopher Nolan and Universal’s box office juggernaut The Odyssey.

Leguizamo rose to prominence in the 1990s with memorable performances in films including Carlito’s Way and Brian De Palma’s Casualties of War, as well as Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge! and Romeo + Juliet. Leguizamo is also known for voicing character Sid in the Ice Age franchise.
Upcoming include Mike Flanagan’s The Exorcist: Martyrs and the Daniels’ next project with Universal, following Everything Everywhere All at Once.
