ECRL-Gombak LRT pedestrian bridge to be completed by March 2027

KUALA LUMPUR: A covered pedestrian bridge linking the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) Gombak station directly to the Gombak LRT station is expected to be completed by March next year.

Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd (MRL), in a statement today, said public transport integration and pedestrian access at the ECRL Gombak Integrated Terminal (TBG) station had been considered from the early planning stages.

The covered bridge will connect the ECRL and LRT stations, with a further pedestrian link to TBG.

While awaiting completion of the permanent bridge, MRL will provide a temporary walkway through Prasarana Malaysia Bhd's facilities to allow passengers to move between the stations when ECRL services begin in December.

MRL said the temporary route would prioritise safety, comfort and ease of movement, including for passengers carrying luggage.

It was also discussing with Prasarana a proposed shuttle service between the two stations, particularly for passengers with luggage.

MRL said the access facilities were part of efforts to integrate the Gombak ECRL station with the existing rail and public transport network.

It added that temporary arrangements would be managed to meet passenger needs when services began, while the permanent bridge was completed in stages.

"MRL appreciates the attention, views and feedback from the public and will continue to collaborate with relevant parties to ensure that the facilities provided are safe, practical and user-friendly," it said. — BERNAMA
