Netherlands and Germany will lock horns in a high-profile UEFA Nations League fixture at the Johan Cryuff Arena on Thursday with much of the attention being on the coaching returns of Xavi Hernandez and Jurgen Klopp.

The Spaniard Xavi took over from Ronald Koeman, while the former Liverpool ⁠manager Klopp succeeded Julian Nagelsmann in July.

Both teams were knocked out of the FIFA World Cup in the Round of 32 on penalties with Netherlands losing to Morocco, while Germany was stunned by Paraguay.

Klopp on Wednesday called on his squad to harness the power of the collective ahead of his first match in charge.

The German recalled veteran goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen to the squad and said he will start between the sticks on Thursday.

Ter Stegen won the 2015 Champions League final with Barcelona alongside Xavi, who will begin life as a national team manager for the first time with the Dutch.
