Abhishek Sharma hits fastest T20I century by an Indian, breaks Rohit Sharma's record

NEW DELHI: Abhishek Sharma set the Arun Jaitley Stadium alight on Thursday, smashing the fastest century by an Indian in men's T20 internationals during the third T20I against Afghanistan.Abhishek reached the milestone in just 30 balls, breaking Rohit Sharma's previous Indian record of a 35-ball century in the format.The left-handed opener clobbered 10 sixes and nine fours in a whirlwind knock to break former captain Rohit Sharma’s record of scoring the fastest T20I century, which he had recorded against Sri Lanka in December 2017.Abhishek’s century was also the fastest for any batter against a Test playing nation. He brought up his hundred with a single in the ninth over of the Indian innings.

Earlier, Afghanistan won the toss and opted to field against Team India in the third and final T20I of the series at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.India, led by Shreyas Iyer, have already sealed the three-match series with an unassailable 2-0 lead after winning the first two encounters.India will look for a clean sweep while Afghanistan will look to end the series with a win.
