KUALA LUMPUR: Electricity supply to several areas in Johor Baru was fully restored within 77 minutes after a fire broke out at the Kangkar Tebrau Main Intake Substation yesterday, Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) said.

The affected areas included Bandar Dato Onn, Taman Daya, Kempas, Bandar Ulu Tiram, Desa Tebrau and Johor Jaya.

In a statement today, TNB said its technical teams were mobilised immediately to restore power in stages.

"Two TNB technical personnel who were at the site during the incident sustained injuries and are receiving further medical treatment at Sultan Ismail Hospital in Johor Baru.

"Both are reported to be in stable condition," it said, adding the families of the injured personnel had been informed and were with them.

TNB said the cause of the fire remains under detailed investigation by its technical team, as well as the Fire and Rescue Department.

The utility added it would extend its full cooperation to ensure a thorough investigation into the incident.

"TNB apologises for any inconvenience caused by the electricity supply disruption. TNB also extends its appreciation and thanks to all affected customers for their patience and cooperation throughout the restoration process."
