GMO tells account holders to prepare for the worst as hackers threaten exposure

Translate

GMO Internet Group was on high alert after hackers threatened to expose the personal information of its clients and launch a ransomware attack on Tuesday at noon. The group asked GMO account holders to back up their data, turn off their computer and pull the plug connected to the computer before noon.

The extreme request highlights GMO’s bid to minimize the impact from the potential attack.

GMO has said that it will not comply with the attacker’s request, adding there is no guarantee that the attacker will delete the personal information it took, and that it might still use the information for unlawful purposes.
