Arsenal are in dire need of a positive result after they were dumped out of the Carabao Cup in a shock result on Tuesday night.

The Gunners were held to a 1-1 draw by the Cod Army at Highbury as Max Dowman was sent off. They were then foiled after Bruno Guimaraes missed a crucial penalty in the shootout and handed their hosts one of the greatest nights in their history.

Things will get no easier here, though, as Mikel Arteta’s men return to the north-west for a far more challenging outing.

Liverpool were also taken to penalties in midweek Carabao Cup action, but got the better of Chelsea to book their place in the competition’s last eight and take their winning run across all competitions to five matches.

There is some good news for the Gunners as they look to snap that run, though, as Declan Rice, Noni Madueke, Riccardo Calafiori and Christos Tzolis are all due to return to the matchday squad.
