Dad vanishes on trip with friend to see Cleveland Browns game; police call case 'concerning'

A Maryland father who traveled to Cleveland to watch his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers play the Browns disappeared hours after the game, leaving his family desperately searching for him.

Phoenix Phillips, 24, was last seen at about 6 a.m. Friday in downtown Cleveland, the Cleveland Division of Police said in a missing-person alert.

Police said Phillips may be traveling on foot and described the circumstances surrounding his disappearance as "concerning."

Phillips is 6 feet, 1 inch tall and weighs about 170 pounds, police said. He has blue eyes and was last seen wearing a gray hoodie, beige pants and white tennis shoes.

Fox News Digital has reached out to the Cleveland Division of Police for additional details surrounding Phillips' disappearance.

Phillips, a father of a 2-year-old boy, is from the Baltimore area and traveled to Cleveland with a friend to attend Thursday night's Steelers-Browns game, Cleveland Missing co-founder Sylvia Colon told Fox News Digital.

Phillips became separated from the friend he was with before he disappeared, Cleveland police spokesperson Sgt. Freddy Diaz told ABC affiliate WEWS.

"He's from out of state, so he was in town visiting and at some point kind of got separated from the person he was with, and after that, you know, we're still trying to determine what actually happened," Diaz said.

Detectives are searching the area where Phillips was last seen, looking for surveillance video and following tips that could help determine his whereabouts, Diaz told the station.

Members of Phillips' family have since traveled to Cleveland and are assisting with efforts to find him, Colon told Fox News Digital.

Colon planned to meet with Phillips' family in person Tuesday as Cleveland Missing works to support them during the search.
