Malayalam viewers hail Ajay Devgn's 'Drishyam 3', say this Hindi version 100 times better than the Mohanlal starrer: 'They wrote it so brilliantly'

Ajay Devgn-starrer ‘Drishyam 3’ is witnessing a strong response at the box office ever since its release on Friday. While the film has been receiving praise from Hindi-speaking audiences, its reception in Kerala has also caught attention.

A section of Malayalam viewers has been particularly impressed by the film’s writing and conclusion, with some even comparing it favourably with the Malayalam version starring Mohanlal.A Malayalam content creator recently shared his reaction to ‘Drishyam 3’ in a video, admitting that audiences in Kerala have traditionally been dismissive of the Hindi adaptations of the franchise. However, he said the third instalment changed his perception, particularly because of the way the story was written and brought to an end.Praising the film, the content creator said in Malayalam, "Those Hindi guys gave such a good conclusion to Drishyam. Just think about it, I hadn’t watched the first and the second part of the Hindi version. We used to look down on it like - 'Whatever who has the time to watch Hindi films.' I had that contempt, but in the end, I had to clap after watching part three of Drishyam in Hindi. Unbelievable. Jeethu Joseph (director of original Malayalam version of Drishyam), doesn’t even have 1% of the writing credit for this movie, because they themselves wrote and set the whole thing up.

They wrote it so brilliantly."He further explained that while the film follows a distinctly Hindi commercial-film template, its treatment of the central characters and thriller elements worked for him. He added, “It’s a pure Hindi film template, occasional jokes, and camera style that felt like a serial quality, but still there are high moments. There are thrill elements, things that the Drishyam characters intend to do are all present in this film, that is why I am saying I am happy.

I’m not saying everyone will watch this and be mind blown, but this makes sense. It’s not some crazy, mind-bending twist and turn, but they ended it really well as a proper continuation of part two.”The video also sparked a debate among viewers in the comments section. One user compared the two versions and wrote, "I feel D3 Malayalam is like a soap opera... Hindi is 100 times better than this." Another commented, "Malayalam drishym 3 was utter flop."

A third viewer said, "Malayalam drishyam 3 felt like it was made more for business than for audience satisfaction." One user even joked, "Why don’t we remake the Hindi third part back to Malayalam.

"However, not everyone agreed with the comparison. Several viewers continued to back Mohanlal's performance as Georgekutty. One comment read, "No one can match Laletten's Georgekutty Emotions. Just making a better twist doesn't mean film can be compared."

Another viewer said, "No one can beat Mohanlal sir when it comes to performance."Unlike the first two Hindi instalments, which were direct remakes of Mohanlal's Malayalam ‘Drishyam’ films, ‘Drishyam: The Conclusion’ follows an original storyline and has a different ending. Director Abhishek Pathak has previously spoken about taking a separate route for the third film.

Ajay Devgn

has also revealed that he sought Mohanlal's approval before proceeding with the new story, with the team deciding not to directly remake the Malayalam third instalment.Meanwhile, ‘Drishyam 3’ opened to a strong response at the box office. According to Sacnilk, the film collected Rs 66.75 crore net in India on its opening day, while its worldwide gross was estimated at Rs 95.10 crore. The opening-day collection also marked the biggest debut of Ajay Devgn's career.
