Law & Order Box Office Collection Day 2: Despite Mammootty’s Cameo, Malayalam Film Struggles To Surpass 1 Crore Total
Ranjith’s latest directorial, titled Law & Order, was released in theaters on September 18. The film, starring Prakash Varma in the lead as a cop, has started on a disastrous note at the box office. The film’s teaser and trailer only added to the negative buzz surrounding the film. However, days before the release, the makers began promoting the film by highlighting Mammootty’s cameo. Despite that, even his presence did not prevent the film’s weak opening.
How Much Did Law & Order earn at the Box office in 2 Days?
The Malayalam cop drama had a dismal opening of just 29 lakh net in India. On the second day, the film’s collection dropped to 18 lakh net at the domestic box office. As a result, in 2 days, the film’s net total stands at just 47 lakh. Meanwhile, overseas, the film has no presence. At this pace, the film will most likely end its theatrical run this week.
Law & Order is now among the lowest-opening Malayalam films featuring an A-list star in a cameo. The film has received poor reviews from the audience, who have called the cop drama outdated.

About Mammootty’s Cameo
Mammootty makes a special appearance in the film. He plays the role of Karikkamuri Shanmughan. It was a character he popularised through his performance in the 2004 Malayalam film Black. The film was written and directed by Ranjith, who also made Law & Order. However, Mamootty’s return as a beloved character, the film did not excite the audience.

Earlier this year, he was also taken into judicial custody by Thodupuzha Police in connection with an attempted sexual assault case.
