Bali fuel queues gradually ease as Pertamina steps up distribution

Karawang, West Java (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Downstreaming and Energy Transition Bahlil Lahadalia said fuel queues in Bali were gradually easing, although distribution had yet to return to normal.
"It is starting to ease," he said when met in Karawang, West Java, on Thursday.
Bahlil, who also serves as energy and mineral resources minister, said he continued to coordinate with PT Pertamina President Director Simon Aloysius Mantiri regarding long queues at gas stations across Bali.
As of Thursday, PT Pertamina Patra Niaga President Director Mars Ega Legowo was in Bali to oversee efforts to restore fuel distribution on the island.
Bahlil had also instructed Pertamina to ensure that several gas stations in Bali operated around the clock. The company had also improved the island's fuel distribution system as part of efforts to restore normal conditions, he added.
Earlier, long queues of vehicles formed at several gas stations across Bali, raising public concerns over fuel availability. Pertamina President Director Simon Aloysius Mantiri explained that delays in the arrival of a fuel tanker were among the factors affecting distribution schedules.
He said the vessel had encountered difficulties while anchoring, causing it to arrive later than scheduled.
He also apologized for the fuel shortages that had affected Bali over the previous few days.
To accelerate the recovery of fuel distribution, Pertamina Patra Niaga had deployed tanker trucks and kept its terminals operating around the clock.
The Udayana Regional Military Command (Kodam IX/Udayana) was also assisting PT Pertamina in securing fuel distribution in Bali amid shortages and long queues at several gas stations.
Meanwhile, Pertamina Patra Niaga Vice President of Corporate Communication Kitty Andhora urged the public not to misuse subsidized fuel while distribution across Bali Province returned to normal.
