Travis Hunter had a touchdown, an interception and one missing shoe. He still went home with a loss. At Wembley Stadium, Trevor Lawrence threw four touchdown passes for the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Cam Little drilled a 60-yard field goal to tie it with 1:55 left. Then C.J. Stroud marched the Houston Texans into range, and Ka'imi Fairbairn kicked a 49-yarder as time expired. Final score: 34-31. The Jaguars enter their bye week at 4-2, with plenty to admire and one problem they can't shake. Houston is now 8-3 against Lawrence.
Travis Hunter Gave The Jacksonville Jaguars Everything Except A Win
Early rain left the grass slick, and Jacksonville never found its footing. The opening drive ended in a punt, and the second died on downs at the Houston 38. Then Lawrence aimed for Jakobi Meyers in the end zone, and Kamari Lassiter intercepted it early in the second quarter.
Hunter changed the mood. He turned one throw into a 19-yard catch that reached the 4 before halftime, then picked up 26 more yards after his shoe fell off. His pass interference penalty on Nico Collins gave Houston a first-and-goal at the 1 late in the half, though. Penalties dogged the Jaguars for a third straight week.
AN ALL-TIME BAD CALL: #Jaguars RB Bhayshul Tuten just had a touchdown wiped off the board after the refs called TE Brenton Strange for holding on a play where he appeared to do nothing wrong. The next play Houston picked off Jacksonville. Unbelievable https://t.co/rlvm7jSSR0

Jawhar Jordan then ripped off a 25-yard touchdown run to make it 31-21 late in the third quarter. Hunter answered with a 7-yard touchdown catch to finish a nine-play, 61-yard drive. One series later, he stepped in front of a Stroud pass in the end zone. "Just made a mistake," Stroud said. ESPN Insights notes that no player had caught a touchdown and made an interception in one game since Brian Dawkins in 2002.
Trevor Lawrence And The Jacksonville Jaguars Face Questions About Discipline Before The Bye
Lawrence finished 24 of 41 for 306 yards and four touchdowns, two of them to Bhayshul Tuten. Danielle Hunter and the Houston pass rush never sacked him. Jacksonville still couldn't slow Stroud, who passed for 312 yards and three scores.
Lawrence refused to turn the loss into drama. "We don't need to go soul-searching or anything like that," he said. He pointed to small mistakes, and the flags are the obvious ones. Three straight weeks of penalties is a pattern, and a 60-yard kick can only hide so much.
The AFC South is tighter than the records suggest. Houston sits at 2-4 after back-to-back wins and hosts the New York Giants next. Jacksonville holds the division lead at 4-2 and uses its week off to find out how much longer that lead will last.
