Glasner Fumes After Diop Escapes Red Card In Nottingham Forest’s Draw With Ipswich
Nottingham Forest manager Oliver Glasner expressed frustration over a controversial refereeing decision after his side was held to a 1-1 draw by Ipswich in Friday’s Premier League clash.
The entertaining encounter saw Neco Williams open the scoring for Forest before Julio Enciso leveled the score for the visitors during a frantic first half.
However, the major talking point of the match arrived when Ipswich defender Issa Diop brought down James McAtee as the Forest playmaker appeared clean through on goal.
Referee Thomas Bramall initially waved play on without awarding a free kick. Following a VAR review to check whether Diop had denied an obvious goalscoring opportunity, Bramall was called to the pitchside monitor, only to brandish a yellow card rather than the expected red.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Glasner made clear his dissatisfaction with the pivotal decision, though he remained encouraged by his team’s overall display and resilience.

“Mixed feelings. More positive, playing so well and we had a great start and after 15-20 minutes we were the better side and started to control the game.
“Then we made the mistake and it’s 1-1. The momentum can change but the reaction second half was amazing. We had many situations where we could score.
“I loved the reaction, the way we played and the spirit. We are moving up on performances and staying patient.”
