Translate

MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has approved the registration of a new local political party in Biñan, Laguna and the change of names and acronyms of two political groups ahead of the 2028 national and local elections.

In its rulings dated Oct. 29, the Comelec granted the petition of Lapiang Unlad Biñan (LUB), allowing it to register as a local political party in the city with all the rights accorded to such groups.

The commission also approved the petition of Solid Movement Towards Comprehensive Change, or Solid Change, to change its official name to Samahan Para sa Kasanayan, Industriya, Livelihood, Labor, Empleado at Diskarte ng Pinoy, which will use the acronym SKILLED PINOY.

The new name and acronym will appear on ballots and be used in the group’s campaign activities for the 2028 elections.

In a separate ruling, the poll body also granted the petition of Kusog Bikolandia to change its name and acronym to Tubig Para sa Bayan Ipaglaban Gampanan, or TUBIG.

The approved changes allow the two political groups to use their new identities on ballots and in campaigning for the 2028 elections.
