Nigeria international, Rafiu Durosinmi, has expressed delight at maintaining his impressive scoring streak for Belgian side KRC Genk, after netting again in the club’s 4-0 victory over Beveren on Friday.

Durosinmi opened the scoring for Genk from the penalty spot after nine minutes, taking his tally to four goals in four league outings since his move to the former Belgian Pro League champions.

The 23-year-old attributed his strong start to the support of his new teammates.

“I feel very good, and above all I am very happy. This is a good start,” Durosinmi told hbvl.

“The team helped me score. We have a lot of quality in the team, and if you have a good group it becomes easier to play.”

Genk signed Durosinmi from Italian side Pisa in the off-season, after struggling to replace Hyun-Gyu Oh, who left for Beşiktaş in February. He had managed just one goal in 12 games for Pisa, though he had earlier scored 13 goals in 30 games for Viktoria Plzeň.

The Nigerian’s strong start has drawn comparisons with two other Nigerian forwards who thrived at Genk in recent years, Paul Onuachu and Tolu Arokodare.

Onuachu remains the record holder for the most goals in a single Belgian league season, with 33 in 38 games, and scored 85 goals in 134 games for Genk before moving to Southampton.

Arokodare scored 41 goals in 113 games for Genk before his own move to Wolves.
